Job Description: 

Job Summary

  • Operate the forklift safely inside the workshop to support CORE workshop work and customer equipment handling.
  • Move, position, load and unload heavy equipment, skids, baskets, frames, tools and materials as instructed.
  • Maintain safe material flow in workshop bays, storage areas and loading points while protecting people, assets and customer property.

Key Accountabilities

  • Operate the forklift only when authorised, certified, fit to operate and aligned with workshop traffic, lifting and QHSE rules.
  • Complete daily pre-use inspection and do not operate if a critical defect, unsafe load or unsafe area condition is identified.
  • Move and position customer/ company equipment, skids, baskets, components and materials safely inside the workshop and loading areas.
  • Confirm load weight, centre of gravity, rated capacity, route clearance, floor condition and need for banksman/ spotter before movement.
  • Control speed, visibility, reversing, blind spots, pedestrian separation, overhead clearance and movements in confined workshop areas.
  • Support truck loading/ unloading and customer job requirements only as instructed by the supervisor or authorised coordinator.
  • Report incidents, near misses, equipment defects, unsafe loads, damaged pallets/ packing, route obstructions or asset damage immediately.
  • Keep forklift, attachments and work areas clean, serviceable and ready.
  • Comply with company policies, QHSE, housekeeping and supervisor instructions.

Knowledge, Skills and Aptitude

  • Educational Qualifications & Certifications: 
  • High school, technical institute or equivalent practical qualification preferred.
  • Valid forklift/ heavy forklift operator certification or licence required before independent operation.
  • Site induction, workshop traffic rules, emergency response, PPE and QHSE orientation required before operating in the workshop.
  • Refresher training required after incident/ near miss, unsafe practice observation, equipment change or as defined by company/ site requirements.
  • Knowledge: 
  • Knowledge of forklift operation, rated capacity, load centre, centre of gravity, stability triangle and safe travel practices.
  • Awareness of workshop hazards including pedestrians, blind spots, confined areas, overhead obstructions, hydraulic leaks and uneven surfaces.
  • Knowledge of daily inspection, defect escalation, exclusion zones, banksman/ spotter signals and safe customer asset handling.
  • Technical and General Skills: 
  • Safe operation of forklift in workshop bays, storage areas and loading/ unloading zones.
  • Ability to assess load stability, route clearance, fork/ attachment suitability and stop-work conditions.
  • Ability to use banksman/ spotter communication, basic inspection records and incident/ defect reporting channels.
  • Language Skills: Basic English communication skills preferred for safety instructions, equipment checks, signage and job coordination.
  • Experience: 
  • Minimum 2-3 years of forklift operation experience preferred in industrial workshop, yard or warehouse environments.
  • Experience moving oilfield, industrial or heavy equipment components is preferred.
  • Previous experience operating large-capacity forklifts is preferred.

  • Purpose of Interaction: Receive daily movement priorities, lifting instructions, access restrictions and safety requirements.Coordinate equipment movement, loading/ unloading, housekeeping, inspection readiness and safe work areas.

  • Purpose of Interaction: Support customer equipment handling only as instructed and ensure careful handling of customer assets.Support loading, unloading and movement coordination when materials, equipment or service vehicles arrive at the facility.
