Job Summary
The Apprentice Technician reports directly to the Service Supervisor/Branch Manager. An Apprentice Technician is skilled in the use of tools and service literature but lacks the experience and knowledge necessary for the maintenance, repair, and rebuilding of equipment and generally assists more skilled technicians and does other duties as assigned. An Apprentice Technician will have considerable supervision.
Key Accountabilities
Demonstrate the ability to remove and install machine/engine/marine components
Demonstrate the ability to perform preventive maintenance on machine/engine/marine equipment’s
Demonstrates the ability to use SIS for remove/install and preventive maintenance purpose
Demonstrates the ability to use hand tools, power tools and special tools
Demonstrates the ability to use precision and non-precision measuring tool
Capable of properly starting and operating equipment sold and serviced by the company.
Completes appropriate paperwork regarding work assignments
Fully understands the use and purpose of all forms pertinent to the Apprentice Technician in the Service Department (Service Report, parts order form, parts order form and warranty ID tags/form)
Make a daily report during OJT on the workshop and ILT Training in ZLI
Complete all ILT Training that has been planned by ZLI
Completes all web-based Training and Assessment on the CAT DPC (Foundational Level)
Completes 50% competency recognition book of Machine/Engine Technician Foundational Level
Establishes and maintains communications with the branch supervisor/shop managers regarding assigned work orders and pertinent details regarding those work orders
Works compatibly with other personnel of the Company, and is able to understand and properly execute instructions given
Conduct a safety assessment before doing the job, organizing workstation and removing unsafe conditions.
Give assistance to other department personnel as required
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Service Supervisor/Manager, may be assigned to specialize in specific areas

Knowledge, Skills and Aptitude
Educational Qualifications and Certifications: Technical High School or Diploma
Knowledge: Internal combustion engine basic knowledge.Electrical component system operation basic
Technical Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.Ability to write simple correspondence.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Language Skills: English Language. Arabic is an advantage.
